Elementary School Principal

Job Title

The Huron Valley Schools is seeking an energetic, highly effective and passionate elementary school educator who is responsible for the leadership, coordination, supervision, and management of the school program and operation.

Position Type: Administration/ Principal

Salary: HVAA Contract

Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Technology or his/her designee

Status: 2026-2027

Minimum Qualifications

Must be passionate in working with all students to inspire and build futures. Must have competent written and oral communication skills. Valid teaching certificate in the State of Michigan preferred. Must be a collaborative decision-maker that can make building decisions while supporting and implementing HVS directives Must hold a Master's Degree from an institution recognized as qualified to grant such a degree and must possess or be eligible for the appropriate administrative certification, as required. Minimum of five (5) years of professional service. Demonstrated interest and experience with the elementary school program. Evidence of ability to provide instructional leadership through: Knowledge and application of research on school and teacher effectiveness Experience with elementary curriculum and instruction practices. Understanding of human growth and development and learning theory. Monitoring student learning to improve instruction. Active participation and understanding of data driven instruction. Excellent communication, group leadership, and team management skills.

Essential Functions

Manage school operations and provide instructional leadership using diverse styles. Implement best instructional practices and ensure the least restrictive environment for all students. Lead curriculum, instruction, and assessment to facilitate learning for all students. Foster a school culture that consistently enhances student and staff development. Cultivate an environment that promotes social-emotional learning. Develop and execute the school improvement process aligned with the district plan. Integrate Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS) and Restorative Practices to maintain a safe, positive culture. Empower students, staff, and families to engage in all school community aspects. Encourage staff initiative, innovation, and continuous professional self-improvement. Maintain high visibility and transparent communication with stakeholders via multiple channels, including social media. Stay current with educational research and evidence-based practices. Facilitate professional learning communities, collaborative inquiry, and district team efforts. Analyze student learning data to drive district and school achievement goals. Offer effective intervention and enrichment for individuals and student groups. Support professional growth, mentor new educators, and collaborate with district staff. Formally evaluate all building staff using growth-oriented metrics. Participate in the recruitment and hiring of new personnel. Develop a master schedule aligned with district guidelines and curricular needs. Manage the building budget, allocating resources to meet program objectives. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or designee.

Education and/or Experience: Master's Degree or higher.

Language, Mathematical and Reasoning Skills: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
