Program & Development Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Program & Development Coordinator plays a dual role in advancing the chapter's mission by supporting both community program delivery and fundraising campaigns. This position splits its time evenly between the Alzheimer's Association's Portfolio of Community Program Offerings — bringing awareness, education, and support to local communities — and the Development team's execution of Walk to End Alzheimer's, Do What You Love, and other fundraising and relationship-building events. The ideal candidate is a versatile relationship-builder and organized project coordinator who can recruit and support volunteers, cultivate community and donor relationships, and help the chapter grow both its mission reach and its revenue base. This role requires the ability to move fluidly between program delivery and fundraising priorities, sometimes within the same week, while representing the Association professionally to community partners, volunteers, and donors.

Responsibilities Program Support (approximately 50%) Recruit, coach, and manage volunteers to build grassroots movement in support of the chapter's Community Program Offerings, applying Association best practices in volunteer activation and engagement. Support and help activate a portfolio of community programs (education, support, and awareness offerings), stepping in to assist with delivery as needed to ensure programs run smoothly and meet growth goals. Cultivate and maintain relationships with community partners — including organizations serving underrepresented and rural communities — to host Association programs and secure community partner agreements. Collaborate cross-functionally with program, development, and advocacy staff to identify and qualify community awareness and outreach opportunities. Track program participation, volunteer engagement, and outcomes; help evaluate volunteer performance and maintain accurate program records. Represent the Association's full mission at community events, presentations, and partner meetings, with an emphasis on reaching communities with limited access to diagnosis, care, and treatment. Development Support (approximately 50%) Provide administrative and logistical support for Walk to End Alzheimer's, Do What You Love and Relationship Events, including creating and finalizing event materials with Development staff and Event Managers. Support volunteer planning committees with team recruitment, meeting preparation, logistics, marketing, and retention to help achieve event revenue goals. Input and maintain confidential charitable gift information; prepare and process gift acknowledgments promptly and accurately; assist with donor and event reporting. Coordinate event materials, signage, and inventory; track and confirm receipt of orders and deliveries; support day-of event logistics. Conduct donor and participant phone outreach, including stewardship calls to past participants and donors. Directly interact with donors and supporters — answering inquiries, accepting donations, and coordinating information on giving opportunities. Research prospects and networking opportunities to help grow fundraising event pipelines; support corporate engagement and sponsor cultivation. Provide general office and administrative support for development activities, including direct mail, bulk mailings, and donor correspondence. Shared Responsibilities Provide supervision, training, and support to assigned volunteers across both program and development activities. Maintain a collaborative, inclusive culture that supports long-term community and donor relationships. Manage timelines, budgets, and administrative details with accuracy across both areas of responsibility. Actively participate in learning opportunities for professional growth; perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience; experience in program delivery, volunteer management, fundraising, or nonprofit administration preferred. 3+ years of relevant office administrative, program coordination, or development/fundraising experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to build and cultivate relationships with diverse populations, community partners, volunteers, and donors. Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to compose accurate business correspondence and represent the Association professionally. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities across program and development functions. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across teams; comfortable holding others accountable and reaching shared outcomes. General knowledge of community health, community-based organizations, and/or nonprofit fundraising practices. Proficiency with standard office software; experience with CRM or donor databases a plus. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds (for event material handling). Travel required, including evening and weekend work for community programs and fundraising events.
