About the Company The Boeing Company Position Overview Real Time Software Engineer – Vehicle Management Systems (Mid Level or Senior) Locations: Hazelwood, MO; Cambridge, MA; Mesa, AZ Role Description Develop and support Vehicle Management System (VMS) software to provide flight and subsystem control for Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. Responsibilities Develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for the software system. Develop and maintain code and integrate software components into a fully functional software system. Develop and maintain software development plans, verification plans, test procedures, and test environments; execute test procedures and document test results to ensure software system requirements are met. Provide technical leadership for software projects. Support generation and maintenance of software processes, tools, and metrics. Serve as a subject matter expert for software domains, system‑specific issues, processes, and regulations. Track and evaluate software team to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards. Train and mentor others. Work under general direction. Basic Qualifications 5+ years of experience with C/C++. 3+ years of experience designing and developing software for Real‑Time or Non‑Real-Time systems. 5+ years of experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). 1+ year of experience with Safety or Flight‑Critical Software Development. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry. Current Secret clearance Level 4: 7 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Real‑time embedded software experience. Agile software development experience. Familiarity with MIL‑HDBK‑516C, MIL‑STD‑882E, JSSSEH, DO‑178C, and Python. Experience with VX Works or other real‑time operating systems. Experience with fault tolerance, signal processing, or control system design. Experience with tools such as Git. Benefits Competitive base pay with variable compensation opportunities.
