Cardiac Care Registered Nurse (RN)

The cardiac care unit is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) with a strong background in telemetry and cardiac care. This is a busy and dynamic environment that requires skilled professionals who can manage a high patient turnover and provide exceptional care for cardiac patients.

Job Details

• Contract Duration: 20 weeks or longer, through end date of 2/27.
• Shifts: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Target Ratios: 1:5-6; flexibility is required based on unit needs.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and 2 Mondays & 2 Fridays within a 6-week period.
• Call Requirement: Yes, with frequency dependent on patient census.
• Float Requirement: Yes.

Patient Care Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will provide care to a diverse patient population, including:

• Pre and post-procedure patients undergoing cardiac interventions.
• Patients with stable angina, low-risk chest pain evaluations, and chronic conditions such as CHF.
• Management of various cardiac drips, including Cardiazem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone.
• Care for patients with conditions such as CVA and TIA.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar unit with familiarity with patient ratios and acuity.
• Traveler Experience: First-time travelers accepted.
• Certification Requirements: ACLS, BCLS, and NIH.
• Skills Required: IV start, telemetry monitoring, and experience with cardiac drips and procedures.

Unit Environment

The unit operates in a fast-paced environment, with an expected turnover of approximately 78 to 90 patients per week. Nurses should be prepared to manage a changing caseload, with the support of a team lead for admissions and discharges.

Orientation

New hires will participate in a 36-hour orientation program, requiring availability for each day during the first week.

Uniform Policy

Navy blue scrubs or white scrubs, along with Novant t-shirts, are permitted. Jackets should match the scrubs in color and material, while footwear should not include crocs with holes.
