Inpatient Psychiatrist

Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine are seeking a full-time Inpatient Psychiatrist at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA. The provider will oversee clinical leadership of a multidisciplinary treatment team providing quality psychiatric care to an acute, adult inpatient population. This position also includes an academic appointment at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. Practice Info Carilion New River Valley Medical Center Acute, adult inpatient population Typical case load is 10-12 patients daily with an average length of stay of 5-7 days Multidisciplinary treatment team Academic appointment at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine Responsibilities Assessment, evaluation, and treatment of psychiatric illnesses Psychiatric medication evaluation and management Ordering diagnostic tests, medications, and other therapies and collaboration with consultants Timely completion of medical record documentation in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines Coordination and continuation of the care for patients in adherence to state and federal guidelines and discharge planning Serving as an on-call physician when scheduled as needed Working with and supervising advanced practice providers Working with learners, medical students, PA students, and residents Compensation Min Starting Salary: $301,875 Max Starting Salary: $358,207 Eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs Sign-on bonus Benefits Eligible to participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Student loan repayment Relocation allowance CME 5 days and allowance Health, Dental, and Vision insurance Retirement Savings Plans - 403(b), 457(b), and Deferred Compensation Employer-funded, defined benefit pension plan Health/Vision with wellness incentives and pharmacy Life insurance Disability insurance Paid malpractice and tail Vacation: 25 days Shift & Schedule Full-time Physician evening call is by telephone with mid-level providers on site Qualifications Degree from an accredited medical school ABPN board certification or eligibility Successful completion of accredited residency in Psychiatry Skilled in interpersonal communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with patients and families Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment H-1B and J-1 visa sponsorship available
