Back End Developer

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the development of mission-critical backend services supporting data pipelines, external system integrations, gateways, and distributed applications for a cutting-edge engineering program. The role is primarily focused on Java backend development , while leveraging Python where appropriate. You will collaborate with a global engineering team to design and deliver scalable, high-performance software solutions in a modern cloud environment. What You’ll Do Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services primarily using Java . Build and enhance data pipelines that process and exchange data across multiple systems. Develop robust RESTful APIs and backend interfaces for internal and external applications. Design and implement microservices following cloud-native best practices. Develop gateway and integration services enabling secure communication between distributed systems. Collaborate with software, systems, and test engineers throughout the software development lifecycle. Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design decisions. Develop automated unit, integration, and system tests to ensure software quality. Troubleshoot, optimize, and improve backend applications for performance and scalability. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices that support efficient software delivery. Work in an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and continuous improvement activities. What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience). 5+ years of experience developing enterprise backend software. Strong proficiency in Java . Experience with Python for backend services, scripting, or automation. Experience designing and developing REST APIs. Hands‑on experience with microservices architecture. Experience building or supporting data pipelines and system integrations. Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, version control, and clean code principles. Experience with Git and CI/CD workflows. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Spring Boot or similar Java frameworks. Experience integrating with external enterprise systems and third‑party APIs. Experience with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Azure Service Bus. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
