Histotechnician

Labcorp seeks a Histotechnician in Syracuse, NY to process tissue and body fluid specimens and prepare histopathological slides for microscopic examination. The role involves sectioning embedded tissue, performing staining procedures, operating laboratory instruments, and maintaining quality control standards.
Responsibilities
- Process human tissue and body fluid specimens for microscopic examination
- Section embedded tissue using microtome and mount sections on microscope slides
- Perform immunohistochemical tests on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections
- Perform routine and special staining procedures on mounted sections
- Operate and maintain manual and automated laboratory instruments with preventive maintenance documentation
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Histology or related biological science with 1+ years clinical lab experience
- New York State Histotechnician license
- Completion of 9-month minimum Histology certification program (alternative pathway)
- Ability to pass standardized color blindness test
- Proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and communication skills
Compensation: $30.50 - $36.00 per hour
