If you're eager to contribute to a thriving and stable organization while maintaining your confidentiality, continue reading.The Sr. Manager, Software Engineering & Application Development leads the development, modernization, and ongoing support of custom enterprise applications within a large, established organization undergoing a significant technology transformation.This leader will oversee the application development lifecycle and establish the tools, standards, and engineering practices used to move code effectively from development through testing and into production. The role requires a strong technical foundation, particularly within the Microsoft/.NET ecosystem, combined with proven people leadership and the ability to guide engineering teams toward modern cloud development, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.In the near term, this leader will focus on improving and modernizing existing applications, working through a backlog of UI enhancements, application improvements, incidents, and defect resolution. As the organization's technology transformation progresses, the role will increasingly focus on building custom software and expanding internal software engineering capabilities.The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical credibility with strategic leadership, strong team engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and a passion for modern software engineering.ResponsibilitiesLead the strategy, development, modernization, and ongoing maintenance of custom enterprise applicationsManage and develop a software engineering team, including coaching, performance management, technical mentorship, career development, and future team growthProvide technical leadership across the application development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through development, testing, deployment, and production supportEstablish and enforce software engineering standards, development methodologies, source/version control practices, CI/CD processes, and DevOps best practicesGuide development of applications and services using modern.NET technologies, cloud platforms, APIs, databases, containerization, and related enterprise technologiesLead the transition toward greater internal custom software development as the organization's technology capabilities maturePrioritize and manage application development work, including new development, application enhancements, UI improvements, incidents, defects, and technical debtIdentify, prioritize, and drive assigned work intake requests through successful completionEnsure development initiatives are delivered within established budget, scope, quality, and timeline expectationsPartner with business stakeholders and technology teams to understand requirements and translate business needs into scalable technical solutionsCommunicate project status, technical risks, priorities, and delivery progress to project teams, stakeholders, and senior leadershipOversee DevOps processes and relationships to ensure development requests, deployments, and production issues are addressed effectively and in a timely mannerDrive adoption of cloud-native development, automation, reusable engineering patterns, and modern application architectureResolve escalated application development and production issues while identifying opportunities to prevent recurring problemsEvaluate emerging technologies and development practices that can improve engineering productivity, application performance, maintainability, and business outcomesEstablish a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and high team engagementRequirementsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field8+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise applications5+ years of experience leading software engineering or application development teams, including coaching, performance management, and employee developmentStrong experience within the Microsoft/.NET technology ecosystem, including .NET/.NET Core, ASP.NET, Blazor, C#, F#, and Visual BasicExperience designing and developing applications using cloud services, preferably Microsoft Azure; experience with AWS or Google Cloud Platform is also applicableStrong experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and source/version controlExperience developing and integrating Web APIsExperience with containerization technologies such as DockerStrong database experience, including SQL-based platforms and modern cloud data platforms such as SnowflakeExperience with enterprise development tools and environments such as Visual Studio and SQL ServerExperience managing the full software development lifecycle from development and testing through deployment and production supportDemonstrated ability to lead teams while maintaining sufficient technical depth to guide architecture, development practices, troubleshooting, and engineering decisionsStrong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business partners, and senior leadershipPreferred QualificationsDeep experience with Microsoft Azure services, including cloud storage and related application/data servicesExperience with PythonExperience with modern front-end and web technologies such as React, Node.js, or AngularFamiliarity with Microsoft Azure,.NET, Power Platform, Dataverse, and Copilot technologies preferredFamiliarity with citizen development strategies and governanceExperience working with SAP or within an enterprise environment where custom applications integrate with SAPExperience with enterprise data platforms and data integration technologies such as Azure Data FactoryExperience helping an organization expand its internal software engineering capabilities and transition from primarily purchasing software solutions toward building custom applicationsAbout K?STA I.T.:Our name says it all; K?STA I.T.
