Saw Operator

Job TitleThis position is responsible for the following:Operate cutting equipment: Band saw, rotating knife saw and die pressCut material to standard sample size; adjust as requiredMaintain cut list schedule to sample inventory stockPull roll stock per the scheduleLoad and Unload rolls as neededMaintain organization of roll stock and shelvesBagging cut samples properly following quality checks and requirementsStocking sample inventoryMust haves for this position:Be able to read, write, and count correctlyBasic Math, English, use a tape measure, weight scale, and micrometerBe able to follow both written and verbal work instructionHave good communication skillsBe detail orientedBe able to change tasks, prioritize, and re-prioritize frequently and able to follow-up on work tasks as needed in a timely mannerBe able to bend, twist, push, pull, and lift (Up to 50lbs; anything heavier than that should be a two-person lift)Wear proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) when applicableMust work in an uncontrolled temperature environmentOperate a pallet jackPrimary Duties:Cut material into samples to keep shelves stockedResponsible for communicating and assisting in the preventive and predictive maintenance of saw equipmentPerform other job functions as directed by supervisorQuality checkAssist Sample Clerk's when neededQuality:Adhere to material cut standardsReview material after first cuts to inspect for quality of materialSafety:Must commit to creating a culture where partners are protecting partners- "You See Something, Say Something!"Must comply with all company policies and procedures listed in the Leggett & Platt Employee HandbookReport all incidents, accidents, and near-misses to your supervisor immediatelyAssist in recognizing, responding, reporting, and eliminating hazards and assuring safety complianceMust participate in:On-the Job (OJT) Training documentationUse of CAR/PARs (Corrective / Preventative Actions)Incident/Accident/Near-Miss Investigations to determine root causeUse of required PPEParticipation in training eventsGood housekeeping in the work area and entire company groundsMust understand and commit to:No personal cell phone use on the production floor; Active cell phone use does not go beyond breaks and lunchesNo horseplay, yelling, or violence in the workplaceNo eating or open drinks are allowed on the production floorEnvironmental:Commit to environmental preservation through:Stormwater Pollution PreventionParticipation in recycling initiativesProper use of waste containersParticipation in training eventsRequirements:You must be able to perform all job-related duties on or about: 90 days
