Shift: Monday – Friday Overall Responsibility: To establish guidelines to identify the professional qualifications and skills required for employment in the pre‑operative area. The Pre‑Op Nurse formulates and executes nursing care for patients of all ages, ensuring the highest quality care, patient safety, and execution of additional tasks as requested by the Chief Nursing Officer. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Prepare pre‑operative patients for admission according to hospital policies and procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of drug usage, interactions with anesthesia agents, and expected patient outcomes. Recognize emergency situations and respond quickly and efficiently following policy, ACLS, PALS, physician orders, or emergency plans to prevent adverse outcomes. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to policies, procedures, and care standards for pre‑operative care. Ensure patients meet admission requirements before surgery. Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with policy and hospital standards. Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and competence in designated skills for the position. Perform nursing duties during procedures related to pain management according to current nursing standards and hospital guidelines. Complete all documentation in Cerner to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date information. Adhere to established hospital safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
