Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Civil Litigation/Professional Liability Defense Attorney role based in Chicago, IL. The attorney will manage a caseload involving commercial disputes, health care litigation and professional liability defense from inception through trial or resolution. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions and briefs, developing case strategies, handling discovery, including depositions and written discovery, and client reporting. The role involves appearing in court for hearings and trials, negotiating settlements, and providing clear, practical legal advice to clients. The attorney will collaborate with partners and colleagues, maintain effective communication with clients, and ensure deadlines and professional standards are consistently met. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in Illinois, or eligibility for prompt admission. Minimum 4 years experience in civil litigation with professional liability defense preferred. Proficient in legal Research, including case law, statutes, regulations, and complex factual investigations. Experience drafting motions, briefs, and discovery responses; comfort with courtroom appearances and oral advocacy. Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and strong organizational abilities. Ability to work collaboratively within a litigation team and manage multiple matters and deadlines. Assist in trial preparation and trial.
