This role is located onsite in Melbourne, FL.The selected candidate will work directly with the Avionics Department Cognizant Engineers to research, design, develop, and test a variety of electronic equipment and avionics systems for the Business Unit.Essential Functions:The Integration and Test of Prime Mission Equipment (Flight Management Computers, Cockpit Avionics, Navigation Systems, Threat Detection Sensors (Passive/Active), and Mission Management Equipment) into Laboratories and on Aircraft for Ground Support TestingManage suppliers, review and analysis of supplier design data, definition of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration, and support test executionThe candidate will be capable of the creation of detailed equipment requirements in Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems specification documents format for product procurementPrepare NGAS procurement documents such as Price and Delivery Information Request (PDIR), Source Control Drawings (SCD) and Supplier Statements of Work (SSOW) in support of procurement processesThe support of Hardware Component analysis as it pertains to product maintainability, reliability, safety and diminishing material sourcesThe creation of hardware test processes and procedures using Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems test procedure document guidelines and templateThe selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levelsCandidate must be comfortable working both in a lab environment as well as support Ground/Flight testing and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineersBasic Qualifications:Educational/ Experience Requirements:Engineer (LV2): Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experiencePrincipal Engineer (LV3): Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 years of related engineering experience.Must have experience in the fundamentals of Flight Avionics hardware and associated elements and networking standards/protocols (e.g. 1553, Ethernet, RS-232, ARINC-429)Must have experience in Digital Computer architecture and associated elements: single board computers, networking components, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), and Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutionsMust have an U.S. Government Interim Secret Security Clearance to apply and to start the role, with the ability to obtain and maintain a final U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Company to meet its business needsPreferred Qualifications:Agile Scrum and Jira ExperienceTrade studies, documenting subsystem architectures, analyzing performance, and evaluating Technology Readiness Level (TRL) with regard to supplier current and future products offeringsBuilding supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selectionExperience using Diagnostic tools (Linux SW, PUTTY, Tera-term) to conduct analysis of Flight Avionics Hardware FailuresExperience with Aircraft Navigation and Flight Plans. Experience with how a Flight Navigation solution / GPS is integrated into an AircraftExperience with integration of COTS electronics and Board Support Package (BSP) designs into military systemsExperience with authentication and data encryption methods, to include securing communications at either the data-link or network layerHave the ability to get a TS/SCI clearance and to attain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP)Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
