Radiologic Technologist – Limited Assignment Your job is more than a job. The Radiologic Technologist Limited Assignment provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions. Demonstrates skills and knowledge in use of all x‑ray equipment and performance of all x‑ray protocols and procedures. Demonstrates technical proficiency in producing high quality exams within the appropriate length of time for procedure. Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Demonstrate a satisfactory working knowledge of PACS and, if needed, review scans with the Radiologists to identify important anatomic detail and areas of abnormalities. Confirm patient identity, body part, and body side for every patient prior to the procedure. Administer sound patient care practices according to department and hospital policies, to ensure the safety of the patient. Communicate effectively with patient to obtain clinical history/informed consent, and explain procedure to patients/families and answer any questions. Recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them. Respond and follow up on critical test findings; acquire and evaluate patient lab values to make sure they are within normal limits when applicable. Maintain equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition; check and inspect the suite, equipment, and accessories daily for hazards. Troubleshoot malfunctions and report dangerous conditions to the appropriate person; maintain work area in a clean, orderly fashion. Check stock supply levels, maintain supplies at par level, and maintain supply usage effort. Clean and disinfect equipment and maintain linen supplies in the room. Participate in department QC and PI programs; follow up on all deficiencies. Practice aseptic techniques and always wash hands before and after each patient contact; strictly adhere to hospital policy on body substance isolation. Wear film badge while on duty and follow departmental policy for badge results. Record required information on the requisition accurately and legibly; perform other routine clerical duties as assigned; input and verify all data in PACS/RADIANT. Qualifications Preferred: Appropriate clinical training in a Radiologic Technologist program and healthcare experience as a radiology technologist. Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support (CPR, BLS) – American Heart Association (required). Radiology Technician (ARRT) – Louisiana State Radiologic Technology Board of Examiners (LSRTBE) (required). Reporting Relationships This position does not formally supervise employees. Functional Demands Medium physical requirements: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements exceed those for Light Work.
