Interventional Radiologic Technologist

Interventional Radiologic Technologist works on the third floor with the interventional radiology team, providing patient care during diagnostic, therapeutic angiography, and special procedures. Responsibilities Promote quality by ensuring a safe environment for employees and patients. Participate in departmental performance improvement activities and develop action plans to address deficiencies. Perform technical quality assurance/improvement by routinely assessing team member imaging. Confirm patient identity, body part, and side prior to procedures, and position patients as required. Apply proper technical factors and operate imaging equipment to generate and send images to PACS. Provide radiation protection to patients and staff per safety standards (ALARA). Assist with administration of contrast media and examinations. Document information according to established guidelines and assist in disease diagnosis by consulting the practitioner. Maintain designated work areas (supplies, cleaning rooms) and assist with first aid when necessary. Adhere to policies and procedures, maintain patient safety, enforce aseptic technique, and comply with OSHA and other safety regulations. Acquire and evaluate patient lab values when applicable. Maintain equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition and perform daily equipment checks, troubleshooting, and clean/disinfect equipment. Order supplies as needed and manage inventory. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of experience in interventional radiology, special procedures, or the catheterization lab at CHNOLA. Graduate from a Diagnostic Radiologic Technology Program; education from CHNOLA preferred. Certification: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association); Radiography; Vascular Interventional Radiography; Radiology Technician (Louisiana State Board of Examiners, CHNOLA). Ability to operate imaging equipment, evaluate images, and conduct sterile technique. Protocols for patient education, safety, infection control, and documentation. Knowledge of radiology safety regulations and ability to handle physical demands including lifting up to 100 lb occasionally. Physical Demands Exerts physical effort up to 100 lbs occasionally.
