Director, Registered Nurse - Critical Care and Emergency Services

Position Summary Dynamic nursing leader who will direct and oversee operations within the Nursing Department across Emergency, Intensive Care, and Respiratory Therapy services at SSM Health’s DePaul Hospital, St. Louis. Key Responsibilities Develop departmental goals and objectives aligned with medical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements. Direct clinical activities, including patient assessment, care plan development, service level determination, patient visits, and complaint management. Plan, organize, and direct all staffing-related activities, including hiring, orientation, evaluation, and continuing education initiatives. Prepare and monitor budgets, ensuring the nursing area operates within allocated funds. Coordinate and direct internal and external audits. Maintain constant vigilance and a safe operational environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Qualifications Master’s degree in nursing or related field. Minimum of 3 years registered nurse experience, including 1 year in direct people management/leadership. Required professional licenses: Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA); Registered Nurse (RN) issued by Missouri Division of Professional Registration or a Compact State. Physical Requirements Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0‑25 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching; repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for close and far distances; ability to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent use of hearing and speech; ability to hear alarms, machinery sounds, etc. Frequent keyboard use and data entry. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping. Occasional lifting/carrying of objects weighing 25‑50 lbs. Rare climbing. Work Details Shift: Day Shift (United States of America). Scheduled weekly hours: 40. Job type: Employee.
