Cost Segregation Consultant

As a cost segregation professional, you will be reporting to the leader of the Cost Segregation practice and work alongside an integrated team of seasoned, well‑known professionals and industry leaders. In this position, you will work on all aspects of engagements and build/maintain relationships with clients. How you’ll spend your time: Performing physical site inspections of properties in order to take detailed notes, sketches or measurements and photographing the various components of the property for IRS audit substantiation purposes Analyzing construction general ledgers, contractor payment applications, and other cost/financial documentation, and reconciling the information to various accounting records Reading, interpreting and estimating take‑off quantities from blueprints and other cost information provided by clients Preparing schedules that support findings in accordance with IRS standards Meeting client expectations by adhering to pre‑established deadlines The kind of people we want to talk to: Bachelor’s degree in construction management or electrical, mechanical or civil engineering preferred 2+ years experience in the construction field A working knowledge of IRS code sections, court cases, revenue rulings and other tax citations related to cost segregation Strong understanding of construction design and processes as well as depreciation, in order to determine the appropriate tax lives for building assets in accordance with IRS standards Knowledge of real estate appraisals and valuations A strong working knowledge of RS Means Cost Estimator and Marshall & Swift and/or Planswift or similar blueprint reading/estimating software Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a rapidly growing, fast‑paced, interactive, results‑based team environment Ability to travel approximately 25% of the year to project sites Willing to train the right professional The compensation for this position ranges from $75,000 – $110,000.
