Food Service Specialist - IDEA Yukon (26-27)

Role Mission Ensures appropriate quantities of food are prepared, portioned, and served to IDEA students. Responsibilities include cutting/chopping fruits & vegetables, following recipes, adhering to established kitchen processes, monitoring students during meal periods (monitoring for appropriate behavior, encouraging students to consume more fresh fruits & vegetables, no sharing of food, etc.) and performing kitchen cleaning duties (sweeping, mopping, wiping tables, washing dishes, disposing of trash). What We Offer Compensation and benefits. Hourly rate ranging between $15.90 for 0 years of experience and $18.29. Eligible for a performance bonus based on team performance and goal attainment. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma preferred but not required. Experience: 1+ years in a job that involves physical activity or requires being on your feet for multiple hours a day; moving cafeteria tables daily and disposing of garbage. License or Certification: Food Handler’s Permit (City/County) preferred. What You’ll Do Possess an interest or passion for working with food. Basic knowledge or ability to quickly learn food production processes. Cooking, cleaning, restocking, and resetting the kitchen for the next day. Meet the physical demands of the job (lifting, bending, walking, etc.). Basic knowledge of providing service to customers (students). Read and execute recipes. Handle medium to large equipment such as ovens, slicers, steamers, etc. Apply basic math skills for portioning food items in small trays. Take pride in food prepared and served to students. Adapt quickly to changing tasks, such as switching from serving food to washing dishes. Take feedback well and self‑reflect to improve performance.
