Genetic Counselor

At our center in southern California, our genetic counselors may participate in some or all of our comprehensive genetics services, including: pediatric genetics including subspecialty clinics assisting with our laboratories After initial orientation, we normally assign a counselor to tasks of their strength and interest. GENE TICS CENTER is led by two well-respected medical geneticists and has a team of experienced genetic counselors as well as onsite CAP-accredited and CLIA-certified molecular genetic and cytogenetic laboratories. Our laboratories have an extensive molecular and cytogenetic test menu that includes BRCA and a full cancer panel and many other tests by NGS, microarray, single gene and known mutation testing, FISH analysis, and various cytogenetic studies. GENE TICS CENTER is approved by the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), which attests to the strength of our cancer genetics program. GENE TICS CENTER is also a Prenatal Diagnosis Center through the State of California Prenatal Screening Program. Providing education is an important part of GENE TICS CENTER’s involvement in the medical community, and our genetic counselors are actively involved in these efforts. Our center is closely affiliated with two major hospitals within walking distance and provides clinical and laboratory services to many other hospitals throughout southern California. We are also a rotation site for genetic counseling students. GENE TICS CENTER has been an integral part of the medical community for 39 years.
