While the Medical Assistant Lead does not have direct reports, their role is vital in supporting practice leadership in clinical and administrative tasks that impact patient care and practice operations. Medical Assistant Leads must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions.

We’re Looking For:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years. Phlebotomy skills are preferred .
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.
• Certified or registered as a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification issued by the National Health Career Association (NHA), RMA certification issued by the American Medical Technologists (AMT), Medical Assistant (NCMA) certification issued by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC), or American Medical Certification Association (AMCA).
• Typically requires 2 years of experience in performing as a medical assistant which includes demonstrated competency in performing: injections, immunizations, EKG, obtaining vital signs, routine medication administration, aseptic technique and infection control guidelines.

As a Medical Assistant Lead , you’ll play a vital role in the care team and lead by example – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

• Welcome patients and support their transition into care.

• Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.

• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.

• Administer medications and vaccines as directed.

• Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.

• Document care accurately in the electronic health record.

• Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

About This Location:

Pulmonary services at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Offices at 2801 W Kinnickinnic River Parkway provide comprehensive medical care for complex lung diseases, breathing disorders, and advanced respiratory conditions. Operating within a major tertiary care center, the department serves as a regional hub for both routine outpatient management and advanced, life-saving interventions.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available.
• Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by -case basis.
• Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills.
• Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids. Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
