Shelter Case ManagerLocation: Greenville, Ohio – Darke CountyPay: Starting at $21.00 per hourMVCAP offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Starting compensation above the minimum may be considered based on directly related education, experience, and qualifications.Schedule: Full-Time (80 Hours Biweekly) | Monday Through Friday 8AM-430PMMake an Impact in Your CommunityMiami Valley Community Action Partnership (MVCAP) is seeking a compassionate and dependable Shelter Case Manager to provide direct support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or domestic violence.This position combines hands-on case management with shelter support and crisis intervention. The Shelter Case Manager works directly with residents to identify barriers, establish goals, connect with community resources, and work toward safe and stable housing.What You'll DoAs a Shelter Case Manager, you will:Conduct client intake assessments and assist with shelter admissions.Complete comprehensive assessments to identify client strengths, barriers, and housing needs.Work with residents to develop individualized housing stabilization and service plans.Meet regularly with residents to monitor progress and address changing needs.Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, de-escalation, advocacy, and support.Connect clients with housing, employment, healthcare, transportation, public benefits, and other community resources.Coordinate referrals and maintain relationships with community agencies and service providers.Assist with discharge planning, housing transitions, and follow-up services.Support daily shelter operations and help maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.Respond professionally to resident concerns, conflicts, behavioral issues, and emergencies.Maintain accurate and timely case notes, assessments, referrals, incident documentation, and client records.Complete required data entry and documentation within HMIS and other agency systems.Assist with facility safety, shelter inventory, donations, and distribution of resident supplies.Participate in an assigned on-call rotation and respond to urgent after-hours situations when needed.Coordinate with law enforcement, emergency medical services, hospitals, mental health providers, child protective services, and other community partners when appropriate.What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications:Associate degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Mental Health, or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.At least two years of experience in case management, homeless services, domestic violence services, crisis intervention, shelter operations, or a related human-services setting.Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, crisis-intervention, and conflict-resolution skills.Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in high-stress situations.Strong organization, documentation, and time-management skills.Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to use electronic case-management systems.CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including assigned evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations.Preferred QualificationsBachelor 's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.Previous experience working with individuals or families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or domestic violence.Experience using the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).About the RoleSuccess in this position requires someone who can balance compassion with accountability.
