Program Technician

Job Description and Duties

Under close supervision of the Child Care El Segundo Office’s Office Site Supervisor or Licensing Program Manger II (also known as the Regional Manager), the Child Care Program Technician (PT) performs program specialist work involving the operation of a licensing Regional Office. The PT reviews and/or processes forms and files of a semi-technical nature associated with specialized departmental program. Duties include: logging and maintaining facility files, maintaining office legal files and inputs office legal/Administrative Action updates, processing applications for licensure, and acting as a receptionist.

Will consider English and bilingual-Spanish candidates. Bilingual-Spanish preferred but not required.

Working Conditions

This is an office-centered position; however, occasional telework may be permitted.

Use of a computer for several hours a day which involves sitting most of the time but may include walking or standing for brief periods. Attend meetings, workshops and training associated with job duties. Work hours and schedules may vary.

Monthly parking fee is not covered, Café on site Office building’s location/proximity to freeway access/public transportation routes : Metro Link Green Line accessible, close to 405 and 105 freeways.

This position may be eligible for Hybrid work. In-person attendance is required based on the operational needs of the position and in accordance with the Statewide Hybrid Telework Policy, Government Code section 14200, and any applicable department telework requirements. The successful candidate must reside in California at the time of appointment. Proof of California residency may be required .

Please note: Regular commute is not compensable.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Strong organizational skills, computer skills – experience with Excel, MS Word, Outlook, Teams Ability to work independently and as part of a team; exercise good judgment; communicate effectively and clearly, both verbally and in writing. Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required.
