Maintenance Manager

Sonesta International Hotels, the 8th largest hotel company in the U.S., is looking for a Maintenance Manager to lead building, equipment, and grounds condition of the hotel. Job Description Summary The Maintenance Manager (MM) is the onsite leader of building, equipment, and grounds condition. The role may supervise 1–2 maintenance workers, perform maintenance and preventive tasks, maintain a clean shop, secure inventory, manage the company vehicle, and support overall hotel operations. Duties and Responsibilities Deliver Sonesta Service to guests and staff, manage according to G.U.E.S.T. standards, and instill a passion for customer service. Create processes and procedures for hotel maintenance and cleanliness. Ensure staff training and provision of tools and equipment. Partner with the General Manager to recruit, train, develop, and manage maintenance staff. Apply specialized knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electricity, and equipment mechanics. Execute maintenance and repair of interiors, exteriors, rooms, laundry, kitchen, HVAC, ventilation, water treatment systems, pools (if applicable), and snow removal. Perform preventive maintenance per PM Works program, including inspections, energy management, log maintenance, and an exterior PM program. Monitor and secure inventory, follow ordering procedures, and minimize waste. Report hazardous situations, emergencies, or security threats to management. Test, maintain, and repair all hotel life safety systems. Contribute to the annual department operating budget. Promote teamwork and quality through coordination with other departments. Manage HR and benefits processes within the maintenance department. Enforce hotel maintenance standards, policies, and procedures. Report on supplies usage, location, and purchasing. Implement PM Works service recovery guidelines to ensure guest satisfaction. Promote safety by using protective equipment and uniforms. Act as Manager on Duty as required. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental laws. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Advanced vocational training plus two years of general building maintenance or construction experience, or equivalent education/experience; professional certification and license required by law. Previous experience in extended‑stay or apartment building maintenance management preferred. Expertise in plumbing, carpentry, electricity, and equipment mechanics. Strong prioritization and organization skills. Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking); other languages a plus. Mathematical skills including budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances. Problem‑solving, reasoning, motivation, training, and organizational abilities. Experience with Microsoft Office preferred. Ability to travel, including overnight travel. Valid driver’s license. Ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move frequently. Ability to handle heavy objects up to 75 pounds. Experience working mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Will regularly use commercial chemicals. Pay Range $30.00 – $32.50 per hour, base pay may vary based on experience and qualifications.
