Group Exercise Instructor

Job Location: Evansville, IN 47708 Position Type: Part Time Salary Range: $11.50 - $13.00 Job Category: Health & Wellness Training will begin December 2024 or January 2025. This position will begin when the YMCA opens in February 2025. POSITION SUMMARY This position supports the work of the Toyota Indiana YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the guidance of the Senior Wellness Director, a group exercise instructor is responsible for working with members in a courteous and motivating manner and works independently under the general direction of the Senior Wellness Director. Complete required abuse risk management training. Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements. Adhere to job‑specific abuse risk management responsibilities. Ensure check‑in procedures are followed. Creates a safe environment in which all individuals feel welcomed and respected; builds relationships with and among members and program participants. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, that align with the healthy living program goals and objectives. Understands different health needs; observes and adjusts approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture. Asks and answers questions and displays empathy in support of helping members and program participants build confidence to achieve their health and wellness goals. Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members. Keeps accurate class attendance records. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen, and Blood Borne Pathogen training is required within 60 days of employment. Child Abuse Prevention training is required on/before the first day of work. Certification/membership is required for a licensed program (Les Mills BODYPUMP, Silver Sneakers, Zumba, etc.) that you are hired to teach. #J-18808-Ljbffr
