Marsh Captive Solutions is seeking candidates for the following position based in the US, for a Strategic Engagement Client Service Leader for Captives. Strategic Engagement Client Service Leader (SECSL) - Marsh Captive Solutions (Captive Management Team). Marsh Captive Solutions is seeking an experienced Strategic Engagement Client Service Leader (SECSL) to join our Captive Management Team. This senior client-facing role will be the primary Marsh lead for some of our largest, most complex multinational captive clients. You will own relationship leadership, strategy delivery and long‑term captive journeys (3–5–10 year), working across Marsh, Mercer, Oliver Wyman, Guy Carpenter and Marsh Risk, the various domicile teams, reinsurance partners, ARS/ART specialists, tax and legal advisors, and third‑party vendors, in some cases, to design, implement and evolve strategic captive solutions for our Marsh Captive Solutions clients. Location: United States (hybrid role; travel as required). Why this role matters: Clients expect an accountable, strategic partner who can translate corporate objectives into a pragmatic captive roadmap — expanding lines of coverage, optimizing capital and investments, navigating tax and regulatory issues, and coordinating cross‑functional expertise. Essentially, designing architecture for risk finance versus simply “buying” insurance. You will ensure strategy becomes action and outcomes that protect retention, drive growth, and position Marsh as the client’s trusted long‑term partner. We can count on you: Work closely with, and sometimes serve as, the single accountable Client Service Leader (CSL) for assigned multinational captive clients, including cultivating and maintaining strong client relationships, leading strategic planning, overseeing delivery of Marsh services, ensuring high client satisfaction, and managing the servicing team. Lead strategic captive planning and delivery: define strategic objectives, develop 3–5–10-year captive journeys, prioritize initiatives and translate strategy into actionable plans. Drive captive innovation and expansion: evaluate and recommend new lines of coverage, jurisdiction/domicile considerations, capital and investment structures, and reinsurance/ARS/ART solutions. Coordinate cross‑functional teams across Marsh and our operating companies (brokerage, analytics, underwriting, actuarial, tax, legal, domicile teams, investment advisors and consulting) to deliver integrated solutions. Partner with the US Captive Consulting Teams to lead or support strategic reviews and feasibility studies, financial modelling, pricing analysis, and risk transfer recommendations in collaboration with analytics/ARS and consulting teams. Oversee execution of implementation activities (regulatory approvals, formation/onboarding, governance, documentation, reinsurance placement, investment policy changes, capital build, stakeholder education). Monitor and report progress against strategic milestones, KPIs and client outcomes; produce clear client deliverables and executive updates. Defend and grow relationships: lead strategy reviews, respond to RFPs and competitor takeovers for client‑managed captives where you are the senior relationship lead, and identify opportunities for cross‑sell (including Mercer employee benefits, among other Marsh services). Develop talent through coaching, on-the-job learning, client facing opportunities; embed best practices and create repeatable Strategy Delivery playbooks. Represent Marsh externally at client meetings, industry forums and conferences as needed. What you need to have: Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management or related field. 10+ years’ experience in captive insurance, captive management or related advisory roles; demonstrated experience with large, multinational clients and complex captive structures. Strong technical knowledge of captive formation, domiciles (US states and international), reinsurance, alternative risk transfer (ARS/ART), investment considerations and tax/regulatory issues. Proven experience designing and implementing multi‑year captive strategies, expanding lines of business and coordinating complex multi‑party implementations. Exceptional client relationship skills — trusted advisor level; strong presence with CFOs, risk executives and boards. Strong analytical and financial modelling ability, comfortable reviewing actuarial and investment outputs and translating them into strategic recommendations. Excellent communication, facilitation and stakeholder management skills with ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence senior internal/external stakeholders. Willingness to travel to client sites, domicile locations and industry events. What will make you stand out: Advanced degree (MBA, master’s in finance, or similar). Professional designations such as CPA, ACII, CPCU, CIRM or captive‑specific credentials. Direct experience working with ARS/ART structures, reinsurance program design, and cross‑border captive expansion. Track record working closely with benefits consulting teams (Mercer) on integrated employee benefits + captive strategies. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
