Driver - Part-Time without Benefits - Meals on Wheels

Job Title

Provides transportation services for customers and goods to and from destinations with sedans, vans, and trucks assigned by program daily manifest.

Must pass required driver's training within two weeks of hire. Preference will be given to candidates with prior work-related driving experience. A valid Driver's License issued by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire. Must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements. Must receive a verified negative test result on a mandatory drug test before starting this position. Will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing. May be subject to post-accident and reasonable suspicion alcohol and drug testing.

Essential functions include: providing transportation services, reviewing manifests, transporting customers to and from destinations, reporting observed changes in customer eligibility or physical and mental health, reporting dangerous or unsafe observations, inspecting vehicle, using technology and software programs to obtain information regarding daily schedules and program clients, informing customers of other Aging Services opportunities and services, and transporting clients who utilize wheelchairs using ADA-compliant vehicles.

Temporary positions are "At Will", FLSA non-exempt employees who are not eligible for County benefits and who must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month. They are not considered merit employees and may be terminated for any reason, without notice, and without a pre-termination hearing.

Working conditions and physical requirements include working with the aging population, lifting food containers in and out of the truck, regularly lifting wheelchairs & other mobility devices in and out of the vehicle, walking on a variety of terrains while carrying items or assisting clients, standing, walking, bending, sitting, stretching, regularly lifting 25-50 lbs., pushing wheelchairs/clients up to 300 pounds. Exposure to all types of weather. May drive for a Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, and/or Rides for Wellness.
