The Simulation Laboratory Coordinator oversees the preparation, maintenance, inventory, and operation of all simulation equipment/supplies and collaborates with faculty to design, plan, implement, and schedule simulation activities. The coordinator ensures adherence to program policies, course objectives, program outcomes, and current simulation best practices and safety measures. Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required./ppResponsibilities:/pulliCoordinate and supervise the general operation of the simulation laboratory/center to provide a wide variety of patient simulation experiences./liliAct as the primary contact for scheduling all medical center, university schools, departments, and external clients utilizing the simulation center./liliCoordinate workflow between departments./liliOversee the regular maintenance and repair all simulation equipment, including:/liulliHuman patient simulators (HPS), computers, monitors and a variety of clinical medical equipment./liliAudiovisual and debriefing systems./liliSurgical simulators./liliVirtual reality laboratory computers and other equipment./li/ulliCommunicate effectively with manufacturers regarding maintenance, repair updates, and technology changes./liulliCoordinate upgrades to software and equipment as needed./li/ulliProvide technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals, including:/liulliBeds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other health care equipment/liliMedication dispensing systems/liliVital sign monitors/li/ulliOrganize and restock simulation laboratory supplies./liliOversee the setup and take-down of simulation laboratory equipment, allowing for rapid turnover of simulation lab setup as necessary./liliMonitor and prepare laboratory budget./liliProvide recommendations for equipment and supply purchases, anticipating future changes in technology./liliEnsures safety for all users./liliMaintain laboratory to meet regulatory and accreditation standards./liliCollaborate effectively with faculty from the following departments (add in relevant departments e.g. Anesthesiology, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, EMT, CNA etc)./liliIncorporate best practice and evidence-based research in program development with a focus on standardization and efficiencies across the healthcare continuum/liliAssist in the development and implementation of curricula for Pre-Medicine, Nursing, and allied health training programs. This includes the development of simulation component for staff and student competency training./liliParticipate in faculty and department meetings to assist with the development and implementation of simulation experiences./liliCommunicate effectively with all simulation laboratory educators, administrative staff, and technical support staff./liliCreate a positive work environment demonstrating leadership and supervision for simulation center staff./liliComplete staff reviews./liliCoordinate training for all users of the simulation laboratory, including faculty./liliProvide orientation to new simulation lab staff and oversee their training./liliCoordinate simulation center schedule (including OSCE, sim, and classroom) in compliance with simulation center policies, working to prevent scheduling conflicts./liliSchedule simulation laboratory staff to support learning activities/liliNetwork with other lab/simulation coordinators at the local/state/national level to develop and utilize best practices./liliCoordinate the collection of data for ongoing research or grant requirements./liliCoordinate the setup and maintenance of computer-based training programs/liliMaintain learner confidentiality./liliHire, train, and schedule Standardized Patients./liliCoordinates center tours./liliPerforms other job-related duties as required./li/ulh3Qualifications/h3pTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
