Cook Assisted Living Skilled Nursing

About Allegria Village

Allegria Village is a vibrant senior living community in Dearborn Michigan dedicated to providing exceptional service and quality care to our residents. We are seeking a Cook to join our Dietary Services team and help prepare nutritious appetizing meals for our Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing residents.

Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals according to established menus recipes and dietary requirements while maintaining high standards for food quality safety and sanitation. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work works well as part of a team and understands the importance of providing meals that are both appealing and appropriate for our residents.

What Youll Do

• Prepare meals and food items according to established menus recipes and portion standards.

• Follow special diet instructions and resident dietary requirements as directed.

• Ensure food is prepared and served at appropriate temperatures.

• Maintain a clean organized and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areas.

• Follow proper food handling storage and sanitation procedures at all times.

• Assist with meal service and ensure food is prepared and available according to the established dining schedule.

• Monitor food quality appearance taste and portion sizes.

• Assist with receiving storing and rotating food supplies as needed.

• Maintain appropriate food inventories and communicate supply needs to the Dietary Services team.

• Follow all applicable federal state and local regulations regarding food service and sanitation.

• Complete required kitchen and food safety checklists and documentation.

• Work collaboratively with servers dietary aides and other members of the Dietary Services team.

• Assist with special events and other community dining needs as assigned.

What Were Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

• Previous cooking or food service experience preferred.

• Experience in senior living healthcare hospitality or institutional food service is a plus.

• Knowledge of proper food handling preparation and sanitation practices.

• Ability to follow recipes menus and special dietary instructions accurately.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively with residents guests and team members.

• Dependable professional and committed to providing excellent service.

• Ability to work as part of a team while also completing assigned responsibilities independently.
