Position Information Employee Group/Grade: Casual Job Category: Casual Posted Work Schedule: Casual (19hrs or less, No Benefits) Shift/Days: This position is seasonal: April–November Pay Schedule: Hourly Number of Hours per Week: Up to 19 hours per week Employee's Effective Start Date: 05/02/2025 Temporary Position End Date: N/A Position Purpose Maintain the estate grounds at Meadow Brook Hall. May assist with duties of the operations staff. Minimum Qualifications High school graduation or equivalent. Ability to read directions and written instructions. Perform physically active work requiring frequent standing, reaching, walking, bending, digging, shoveling, pulling, pushing, climbing on a ladder and lifting in order to perform various grounds and event operations tasks. Frequent lifting requiring the execution of up to sixty pounds of force to move and use supplies, landscaping materials, grounds equipment. Completion of an employment physical to verify the applicant’s ability to perform the duties of the position is required. Work with fertilizers and other substances that may produce strong and/or offensive odors and works in various conditions with extremes in heat and cold. A valid Michigan driver’s license, a driving record acceptable to the University and a criminal background check are required. Desired Qualifications Grounds keeping/Irrigation/landscape experience. Job Duties Part-time groundskeeper is responsible for tasks such as mowing, string trimming, picking up trash, planting flowers, utilizing various types of grounds equipment. Managing supplies, irrigation and overall maintenance of the estate grounds.
