These benefit levels are subject to change. This is an Oakland University Campus Maintenance and Trades – MEA / NEA position. The incumbent will be represented by the MEA / NEA. Qualified bargaining unit members will receive interviews and initial consideration. This position will remain open for a minimum of five (5) working days. External applicants may be considered. Position Information Job Category: Service Work Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours per week) Shift and Days: Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm with additional overtime during snow season. Pay Schedule: Hourly Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalency and a minimum of one (1) year of grounds maintenance experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier. Ability to read directions for the use of fertilizers and related materials and written instructions. Performs physically active work requiring frequent standing, reaching, walking, bending, digging, shoveling, pulling, pushing, climbing a ladder, and lifting to perform various grounds tasks. Frequent lifting up to sixty pounds of force to move and use supplies, landscaping materials, and grounds equipment. Works with fertilizers and other substances that may produce strong or offensive odors and works in various conditions with extremes in heat and cold. Employees must possess, or obtain prior to the end of their probationary period, a Michigan Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification in Commercial Core and Category 3A (Turfgrass). Certification must be maintained as a condition of employment. Desired Qualifications Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional, and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable or equivalent may be considered. Position Purpose Under the direction of a grounds supervisor or senior groundskeeper, maintain university hard‑surfaced and unplanted areas, establish and maintain planted areas.
