Joining together with our neighbors to advocate for justice and equality, we help build community strength.We work with New Yorkers of all ages. We infuse a commitment to civic engagement, equity, and communal action into each of our programs, which include early childhood education, mental health and wellness, benefits assistance and eviction prevention, adult literacy and education, healthy aging, community, and recreation centers, performing and visual arts, and youth development.Responsibilities:Create and lead engaging activities for up to 20 youth, ensuring safety and comfort of students throughout programDesign and implement lesson plans for multidisciplinary activities using knowledge of positive youth development and incorporating student feedback throughout the school yearEnsure that academic assistance is provided during homework periodPlan and involve children in a range of multidisciplinary activities, design and implement thematic based lessonsServe as a positive role model for youth and uphold professional behavior at all timesWork constructively with co-counselor and other colleagues; communicate regularly with supervisory staffCommunicate with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and problem solvingMaintain responsibility for designated program supplies and proper use of all facilities, including classroomsComplete all necessary documentation and administrative tasksOther duties as assigned by the Supervisor(s)Qualifications:HS Diploma or HSE required, current enrollment in college is a plusExperience working with middle and high school populationAbility to commit for the entire school yearMust be over 18 years oldHighly energetic, dynamic, and positiveWork Schedule: Seasonal Summer, Monday - Friday, Shift options from 8:00am - 4:00pm or 10:00am - 6:00pm, 35 hours per weekWe are committed to building a diverse and inclusive community.
