Purpose Statement The job of School Program Assistant Group Leader is established for the purpose of supporting the Group Leader in helping students develop and strengthen academic, physical, and social skills by helping and tutoring students in the after-school program. Job Location & Commitments Upper Manhattan & Bronx Part-Time, and Seasonal if Hired for Summer only Monday-Friday After School Hours, Summer Camp hours as well if employed for Summer Key Responsibilities Assists students with homework assignments, make up work, etc. Assists with program components for the purpose of delivering services that conform to established guidelines. Monitors individual students, classroom, library, recreational activities for the purpose of ensuring availability of items. Includes homework assistance, recreational activities, leadership development, education, and career development Assists group leaders in maintaining behavior standards for students. Attends staff meetings and professional development training Individual Responsibilities Arrive on time for work or contact the supervisor when delayed Be reliable in attendance and give ample notice for absences Come to work with a positive attitude Approach criticism with a learning attitude Good Role Model Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Some college preferred. Two years’ experience working with elementary grade students is preferred but not required.
