Position Summary The Director of Accessibility Services provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and cross‑functional coordination to advance equitable, compliant, and student‑centered accessibility services at the Community College of Aurora (CCA). Serving as the institutional lead for accessibility strategy, the Director partners across the college to embed accessibility throughout the full student lifecycle—from pre‑enrollment through completion and workforce readiness—ensuring students with disabilities have equitable access to academic programs and student services. The Director provides oversight of accessibility operations, including accommodations, assistive technology, and case management systems, ensuring services are delivered consistently, efficiently, and in alignment with legal and institutional standards. Through data‑informed decision‑making, the Director monitors utilization, student outcomes, retention, and completion trends to evaluate effectiveness and guide strategic improvements. As a key contributor to CCA’s BRAVE 2030 Strategic Plan, this role strengthens institutional alignment, advances cross‑functional collaboration, and positions accessibility as a shared responsibility central to student success, equity, belonging, and post‑completion success. Overview of CCA The Community College of Aurora serves a diverse community by providing high‑quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment, and to serve a wide variety of populations including veterans, non‑traditional students, and multicultural learners. More than 20 languages and 60 countries are represented at CCA; the college demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and seeks partners who share that commitment. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Institutional Leadership, Strategy & Culture Lead the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of equitable, legally compliant accessibility and accommodation processes across all academic modalities and campus locations. Ensure compliance with ADA/Section 504, mitigate risk, and proactively remove and reduce systemic barriers impacting students with disabilities. Serve as the senior accessibility coordinator on complex accommodation determinations, disputes, and grievances. Align accessibility strategy with institutional priorities (BRAVE 2030, KPIs, equity plan) and integrate into planning, budgeting, and governance processes. Advance a disability‑positive, accessibility‑forward culture by embedding accessibility into equity, diversity, and belonging efforts and reducing stigma. Represent Accessibility Services on institution, system, and community‑based committees and strategic initiatives. 2. Student Access, Instructional Partnership & Campus Integration Oversee accessibility services across the full student lifecycle—collaborating with campus partners (Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, Instruction, Career Readiness, Workforce Development, etc.) to embed accessibility across institutional systems. Build and sustain partnerships with faculty, deans, and instructional leadership to advance shared responsibility for access in the classroom environment. Establish clear expectations for accommodation implementation and provide training for faculty and staff on ADA/Section 504, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and inclusive practices. Support the design of accessible learning environments across academic and workforce settings. Promote student self‑advocacy and monitor student progress, retention, and success outcomes. 3. Operations, Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement Provide strategic oversight of accessibility services (testing, assistive technology, alternate formats, interpreting/captioning) and case management systems. Supervise and develop staff through training, evaluation, and ongoing professional development to ensure compliance and best practices. Lead continuous improvement of workflows, systems, and accessibility infrastructure in partnership with IT and instructional technology (e.g., D2L, MyCCA). Evaluate and implement assistive technologies and remove barriers in institutional processes and platforms. Develop and manage data systems tracking utilization, outcomes, and equity gaps; partner with Institutional Research to assess effectiveness. Produce reports aligned with institutional KPIs and use data to inform decision‑making, resource allocation, and ongoing improvement. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Rehabilitation Services, Disability Studies, Education, or a related field. Minimum of 2‑3 years of progressive experience in disability/accessibility services in higher education or a related setting, including demonstrated leadership responsibility. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience applying the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, state disability law such as Colorado HB22‑1255 and SB25‑087, and related federal and state regulations. Demonstrated experience overseeing accommodation processes, including documentation review and the interactive determination of reasonable accommodations. Experience developing, implementing, and standardizing policies, procedures, and systems to ensure consistency, compliance, and effective service delivery. Experience supervising professional staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and ongoing development. Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to provide training, consultation, and guidance on accessibility, compliance, and inclusive practices. Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and serving diverse student populations, including historically marginalized communities. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Rehabilitation Services, Disability Studies, Education, or a related field. Experience leading accessibility/disability services at the program or departmental level in a community college or similar open‑access institution. Proven ability to interpret and apply complex regulations and make sound, equitable decisions in nuanced and high‑impact situations. Office operations and budget management experience. Working knowledge of assistive technology and accessible instructional technologies (e.g., testing platforms, captioning tools, alternate format systems). Experience supporting students with a wide range of disabilities, including mental health conditions, chronic health conditions, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Familiarity with documentation review processes and disability‑related assessment/diagnostic frameworks. Experience partnering with faculty to implement accommodations and advance inclusive or accessible instructional practices (e.g., UDL). Demonstrated cross‑functional collaboration with areas such as Academic Success, Advising, IT, and Workforce Development. Bilingual (English/Spanish) or proficiency in American Sign Language. Active engagement in relevant professional organizations (e.g., AHEAD, NASPA, ACPA, Access Higher Ground) and ongoing professional development. Supplemental Information Salary Range: $70,500.00 – $80,075.00 annually, adjusted for qualifications and departmental budget. Benefits: generous leave, holiday, and education benefits are included.
