Job Title: Production Assembler Job Description

The Production Assembler builds a variety of industrial control panels and supports the setup of a new manufacturing facility. In the first few weeks, this role focuses heavily on assisting with the move from one building to another, including safely handling and lifting equipment and helping set up the new plant. Once the move is complete, the Production Assembler works at various stations—such as prep, layouts, and wiring—to electrically and mechanically assemble control panels according to detailed work orders and build instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the move from building to building during the initial weeks, including heavy lifting of equipment and supporting the setup of the new plant.

• Electrically assemble, wire, and route components according to work orders, assembly instructions, and build documentation.

• Use hand tools and cordless power tools to complete electrical and mechanical assemblies safely and efficiently.

• Perform point‑to‑point wiring, terminations, crimping, and basic electrical connections on control panels.

• Read, understand, and follow work orders, assembly instructions, and build documentation with close attention to detail.

• Verify proper wire routing, labeling, and connections to ensure all work meets specifications and quality standards.

• Perform basic electrical checks to confirm assemblies are complete and functioning correctly.

• Maintain an organized, clean workspace and properly store tools, materials, and components.

• Communicate issues, missing parts, or discrepancies promptly to supervisors or team leads.

• Follow all safety standards, guidelines, and company procedures during assembly and material handling operations.

• Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams as part of ongoing training and skill development.

• Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying potential assembly or quality issues and suggesting improvements.

Essential Skills

• Ability to use hand tools and power tools confidently and safely.

• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.

• Mechanical aptitude, including the ability to follow written directions and assemble items similar to furniture kits.

• 2–3 years of assembly experience in a production or manufacturing environment.

• At least 1 year of electrical assembly or wiring experience (with willingness to continue learning and training).

• Ability to understand work orders and instructions and to learn electrical schematics with provided training.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally as part of daily duties.

• Ownership and proficient use of basic hand and power tools, including screwdriver set, cordless power drill with batteries and charger, standard hammer, 25 ft tape measure, stiff ruler, wrenches, ratchets, sockets, pliers (needle nose, slip joint, crimping, long nose, cutting), wire strippers covering multiple gauges (10–24 AWG), and a utility knife, available on Day 1.

• Experience wiring sensors.

• Experience wiring transformers.

• Experience wiring IR plates.

• Interest in industrial automation and control panel building.

• Willingness to learn new electrical and mechanical assembly techniques and grow technical skills over time.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a very clean, well-lit manufacturing facility that has recently moved into a new building. The environment is organized and focused on industrial automation and control panel production, using a variety of hand tools and cordless power tools for electrical and mechanical assembly. The typical shift runs from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, with total hours ranging from 60 to 70 per week, providing significant overtime potential. The setting emphasizes safety, proper tool use, and adherence to procedures while maintaining a professional and orderly workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling Heights, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
