Data Center Construction Project Lead

Who You Are & the Impact You Will The Development Project Manager (Data Center Construction TFO) is responsible for leading and managing the design, preconstruction, and construction activities on assigned projects. The role requires strong written and oral communication skills and daily collaboration with facilities, contractors, designers, engineers, vendors, and operations staff. What You Will Do Manage multiple projects across campuses, maintaining updated budgets, schedules, and status reports. Create and communicate monthly development program and project status updates for executive reviews. Work with stakeholders, design, and construction teams to create a master development program, campus design solution, and capital budget. Manage entitlement and permitting needs for assigned site projects. Implement and manage multi‑phased site development plans to meet time, budget, and quality goals. Write scopes of work for design, construction, and commissioning services; participate in procurement and cost estimates. Evaluate and price design, construction, and commissioning proposals. Collaborate with strategic procurement on equipment procurement and delivery. Coordinate submittals with site stakeholders. Monitor and report project budget/cost-to-date versus overall budget. Establish project schedules and manage teams for on‑time completion. Review and approve monthly contractor pay applications and negotiate change orders. Establish site construction security procedures with the security team. Develop and communicate product deployment plans with QTS staff. Collaborate with sales engineers and product teams for custom deal solutions within schedule and budget. Maintain relationships as a liaison with key QTS stakeholders. Represent QTS interests in OAC meetings. Build relationships to enhance QTS’s leadership in real‑estate acquisition. Participate in due diligence for potential new sites as needed. Work with the internal development team to improve project management processes and protocols. What You Will Need to be Successful (basic qualifications) Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent professional experience. Five or more years of professional experience in commercial construction, managing Lump Sum, Construction Management @ Risk, and Design Build projects from conceptual development through procurement to close‑out. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint for executive communication and Excel for budget maintenance. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. Other Key Skills MBA or Master’s in Engineering, Management, or related field desirable. Experience delivering mission‑critical data center facilities. Extensive experience managing MEP trades.
