VP of Finance/Controller

Location : Hybrid (4 days in person, 1 day remote per week) Salary Range : $175,000 - $225,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. About the Role The Controller will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvement—while partnering closely with the CEO, Head of People, and our PE sponsor to support disciplined growth. What You'll Do Leadership Fully own the finance department, overseeing the accounting, FP&A functions and cash management Act as a thought partner to leadership on financial discipline, visibility, and decision-making to shape the long term strategy Engender financial rigor and discipline throughout the organization Manage outsourced bookkeeping resources Build scalable processes for a growing footprint (new openings, transitions, integrations) Server as primary point of contact for Private Equity sponsor Accounting Own the weekly and monthly close process, ensuring timely, accurate financial statements Maintain and enforce accounting policies, controls, and documentation Lead school-level budgeting process Manage Department of Education finance relationship Coordinate with external partners (audit, tax, payroll providers) Operations Partner with school leaders and central teams to ensure clean, consistent financial inputs across locations Help heads of schools identify opp Support location-level P&Ls, cost tracking, and variance analysis FP&A / Reporting Prepare weekly monthly reporting packages for the CEO and private equity partner Lead budgeting, forecasting, and 13 week cash-flow planning in partnership with CEO Lead ad hoc analysis as needed The statements in this job description are intended to describe the essential nature and level of work being performed.
