Position Overview
The Behavioral Health Telehealth Clinician provides high-quality behavioral health services to youth, adults, and families through telehealth and integrated care delivery. This role conducts comprehensive assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, and delivers evidence-based interventions for individuals with mental health and/or co-occurring disorders. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, this position ensures coordinated, patient-centered care aligned with KANA's mission, values, and recognized clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities

- Establishes therapeutic relationships with clients based on empathy, trust, and professionalism
- Provides individual, family, and group counseling and/or psychotherapy services for children, adolescents, adults, and elders
- Completes integrated behavioral health assessments using DSM-5 and ASAM placement criteria
- Develops and implements individualized treatment plans that address biopsychosocial needs, including co-occurring disorders
- Provides crisis intervention for individuals experiencing suicidal ideation, psychosis, or acute behavioral health concerns
- Manages approximately 25 direct patient care hours per week and coordinates scheduling with the Behavioral Health Intake Coordinator
- Participates in clinical supervision (if unlicensed) or consultation (if licensed) to support continuous improvement in care delivery
- Collaborates with Behavioral Health team members including Case Managers, Intake Coordinators, Behavioral Health Aides, and other staff
- Coordinates care with KANA medical providers, the Wellness Center, Child Advocacy Center, and community partners
- Develops and maintains referral networks to support access to higher or lower levels of care when needed
- Participates in outreach and community engagement activities, including possible travel to rural villages as requested
- Maintains timely and accurate clinical documentation in compliance with KANA policies, State of Alaska regulations, Medicaid requirements, and other applicable standards
- Engages in professional development, including continuing education (CEUs), advanced training, and licensure progression
- Attends required meetings and training and works toward Qualified Addictions Professional status when applicable
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Master's Degree from an accredited university in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related behavioral health field
- Licensed in the State of Alaska or eligible for licensure within two (2) years of hire
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in the behavioral health field required; two (2) years preferred
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention
- Experience working in rural Alaska villages strongly preferred
- Ability to conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Must pass background checks in accordance with Alaska DHSS and the federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements
Work Schedule
KANA's standard work schedule is 37.5 working hours per week, consisting of 7.5 paid working hours per day plus a one-hour unpaid lunch break (8.5 hours on site per day).
This position is based out of Anchorage. Candidates must be located in Anchorage or willing to relocate to Anchorage.
