Line Cook - 2 Positions!!

Collington, a Kendal affiliate located on a 125-acre campus in Mitchellville, Maryland, is a Life Plan Community that offers active living, assisted living, and memory support, emphasizing diversity and a collaborative spirit. Job Summary The Line Cook is responsible for cooking and preparing high‑quality menu items from the cycle menu under the supervision of the Executive Chef. The role requires familiarity with classical cooking methods, knife techniques, and safe food handling practices. Responsibilities Maintain production kitchen operations to assure consistency with Collington’s standards of high‑quality meal service. Prepare menu items under guidance of the Executive Chef, following recipes. Portion food according to production schedules and recipe specifications. Follow safe food handling procedures with emphasis on critical control temperatures. Understand classical cooking methods. Apply proper knife cuts and handling techniques. Utilize and maintain production records and temperature logs. Taste test and evaluate food before serving, consulting with the Chef when needed. Operate all kitchen equipment correctly. Clean and sanitize equipment and utensils during and after each shift. Qualifications Minimum 1 year of experience working in commercial production kitchens, such as restaurants, hotels, or golf clubs. Strong understanding of classical cooking methods and knife techniques. Ability to work in a fast‑paced kitchen environment. Physical Demands Must stand and walk 90% of the workday. Ability to stoop, bend, and stretch frequently in tight areas. Must lift, carry, push, and hold up to 60 pounds. May be exposed to extreme temperatures from ovens and freezers. May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.
