What You Will Be Doing

• Assist with intake, flow, and preparation of emergency patients for evaluation and treatment
• Obtain, measure, and document vital signs, oxygen saturation, pain scores, and blood glucose results and promptly report abnormal findings to the nurse or provider
• Perform EKGs and other delegated diagnostic support tasks per training and departmental policy
• Assist physicians and nurses during examinations, trauma response, wound care, splinting, suturing, and other emergency interventions as delegated
• Collect blood, urine, and other specimens ensuring proper labeling, handling, and transport
• Apply simple dressings, assist with wound cleansing, and prepare supplies for procedures
• Transport patients to diagnostic, treatment, or inpatient areas and assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Prepare and clean treatment rooms, stretchers, and equipment between patient use
• Accurately document all assigned care, procedures, and observations in the medical record in a timely manner
• Observe patient condition and immediately communicate changes in status to the clinical team
• Follow infection prevention practices, departmental procedures, and hospital policies at all times
• Maintain patient confidentiality in full compliance with HIPAA
• Complete all required annual training, competency validations, and emergency preparedness drills
• Promote a positive patient and family experience through respectful and compassionate care
• Support a culture of safety, accountability, and service excellence

What We Are Looking For

• Current EMT or Paramedic certification recognized in Texas
• Prior ER, urgent care, EMS, or acute care hospital experience
• Experience with EKGs, phlebotomy, splinting, and wound support
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and observational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced emergency environment
• Team player who takes initiative and supports the clinical team

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
• Completion of an approved EMT, Paramedic, CNA, Medical Assistant, or Patient Care Technician program or comparable acute care experience
