Job Description & Requirements Specialty: SICU - Surgical Intensive Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/21/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs Hours: 36 hrs/wk Start Date: Sep 21, 2026 Length: 13 weeks Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-acuity Surgical ICU position requiring transplant and post-cardiac surgery experience along with a compact or Louisiana RN license Details Work in a high-acuity Surgical ICU (SICU) and Transplant ICU setting 1:2 patient ratio Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, with manager able to accommodate 3x12 or 4x12 schedules No block scheduling requests accepted Float required to other ICUs and step-down units Epic EMR experience required No on-call requirements Provides general post-op surgical recovery care including CABG, valve replacement/repair, and aortic dissection Cares for transplant recovery patients including liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas transplants Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) preferred Requirements Active Compact or Louisiana RN license in hand at time of submission Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA) required Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty required Minimum 2 years of transplant experience required (liver, heart, lung, kidney, or pancreas) Experience with post-cardiac surgery care directly from the OR required Previous travel nursing experience required Preferred experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (measured from driver's license address) Must be separated from Ochsner Health for at least 1 full year if previously employed as permanent staff or in-house agency contractor Additional Information Deliver comprehensive post-operative care to surgical and transplant ICU patients May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring extended on-site presence during declared emergency events Orientation held 5 days per week RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid offer rescindment Two manager or supervisor references required prior to starting the contract (charge RN references not accepted) Local candidates are not accepted for this position American Traveler Job ID P-745376.
