Civil Litigation Paralegal – Civil Rights Experience

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Schedule: Full-Time | In-Office

The Opportunity

An established plaintiff-side law firm in Phoenix, Arizona, is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Paralegal with a background in civil rights litigation .

The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, excellent drafting skills, and the ability to independently manage case files while supporting attorneys through all stages of litigation, including trial preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys with civil litigation and civil rights cases from intake through resolution or trial.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, subpoenas, and legal correspondence.
• Manage all phases of discovery, including document production, interrogatories, and depositions.
• Assist with civil rights claims, constitutional violations, discrimination, and other civil litigation matters .
• Conduct legal research and assist with case investigations.
• Prepare medical records, exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
• Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, and court appearances.
• Maintain case calendars, track court deadlines, and ensure compliance with court rules.
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel.
• Assist attorneys with trial preparation in Arizona state and federal courts.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of civil litigation paralegal experience preferred.
• Civil rights litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with plaintiff-side litigation highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Arizona state and federal court procedures.
• Strong experience drafting pleadings, discovery, and litigation documents.
• Familiarity with federal civil rights claims, including 42 U.S.C. § 1983 , is a plus.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to manage multiple active cases and meet strict deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, electronic filing systems, and legal case management software.
• Trial preparation and courtroom experience preferred.

The firm is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive paralegal who can handle complex civil litigation matters, work closely with attorneys, and contribute to a growing plaintiff-side practice.

Experience involving civil rights violations, police misconduct, excessive force, unlawful detention, discrimination, or constitutional claims would be especially valuable.
