Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Buyer II to manage supplier relationships and procurement activities in a manufacturing environment. The role involves optimizing costs, ensuring timely material delivery, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support operational excellence at the Marietta, Ohio facility.
Responsibilities
- Manage supplier relationships and drive cost optimization initiatives
- Ensure timely delivery of critical materials and maintain optimal inventory levels
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Finance teams on operational excellence
- Analyze procurement data and develop actionable insights for continuous improvement
- Support supply chain problem-solving and process improvements
Requirements
- Advanced degree with no prior experience, or bachelor's degree plus 2 years procurement/buying experience
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Experience with MRP, inventory management, and supplier relationship management
- Analytical and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to achieve cost savings
- Excellent verbal and written communication for supplier and stakeholder interaction
- APICS, CPIM, CSCP or CIPS certification preferred
