Senior Accountant

Overview
The Senior Tax Accountant will join an established public accounting firm and primarily support individual and business tax preparation. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of public accounting experience and be comfortable independently working through tax engagements in a small-firm environment.
The position will primarily focus on tax preparation for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations. Candidates with additional financial statement, compilation, review, or audit experience are highly desirable.
This individual should be able to come into the firm with a solid public accounting foundation and take on meaningful work without needing to be trained from the ground up on public accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare federal and applicable state income tax returns for: Individuals, Partnerships, S corporations, C corporations
- Work with business clients and their accounting records to support tax preparation and planning.
- Review and work with client financial information maintained within QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online.
- Utilize professional tax preparation software to prepare and process returns.
- Communicate with clients as necessary to gather information, resolve questions, and complete tax engagements.
- Manage assigned work and deadlines, particularly during tax season.
- Utilize Excel and Microsoft Word as part of daily accounting and tax responsibilities.
- Potentially assist with additional accounting engagements depending on experience, including: Compiled financial statements, Reviewed financial statements, Audited financial statements
- Work directly with firm ownership and other members of the accounting team.
- Collaborate with colleagues in a small-office environment where communication and accessibility are important.
- Take on increasingly sophisticated work based on experience and capability.
Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience.
- Strong tax preparation experience.
- Experience preparing returns for multiple entity types, particularly: Individuals, Partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations
- Experience using sophisticated professional tax preparation software.
- Strong working knowledge of: Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
Strongly Preferred Experience
- QuickBooks experience.
- QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience.
- Experience with financial statement preparation.
- Compilation experience.
- Review experience.
- Audit experience.
- Previous experience within a small or midsized public accounting firm.
Tax Software
Candidates do not need prior experience with the firm's exact software (Lacerte) as long as they have worked with sophisticated tax preparation software at another public accounting firm.
