Sebesta Poelma, LLLP is seeking an Associate to join our Houston firm. This position offers the opportunity to handle a broad range of commercial and business disputes, assume meaningful responsibility throughout the litigation process, and work closely with partners on case strategy and client service.

Responsibilities

• Handle commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation.
• Research and draft persuasive briefs and motions in state and federal courts, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and motions to compel.
• Prepare and file pleadings, draft discovery requests and responses, and develop legal memoranda and supporting research.
• Represent clients at hearings and take fact-witness depositions.
• Collaborate with partners and team members to develop case strategies and provide responsive, high-quality client service.
• Manage competing deadlines and maintain organized case files.

Qualifications

• Active Texas law license in good standing and compliance with applicable CLE requirements.
• 3+ years of litigation experience; commercial or business litigation experience preferred.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
• Sound judgment, initiative, and a collaborative approach to client service.
