Registered Nurse (RN) - Day Shift
Assignment Duration
This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule
Day shift; 3x12 hour shifts.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while promoting a safety-first environment for both patients and employees.
Responsibilities
Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis of an individualized plan of care.
Identify teaching needs and goals related to each patient's diagnosis through collaboration with patients/families and the interdisciplinary team.
Provide timely patient information for team conferences and ensure accurate documentation in the medical record.
Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and focus on patient education utilizing the nursing process.
Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from day of admission.
Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care and safety.
Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
Assure personal and environmental safety in accordance with policies and procedures.
Support positive teamwork and unit functioning, including participation in team-building activities.
Maintain communication with management regarding service needs and promote cost-effective care.
Assume charge responsibilities as requested after the orientation period.
Engage in professional growth through ongoing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (CIRH only).
Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is required.
Experience in PCU/Critical Care or Step-Down is required.
