Location: Madison, WI (Onsite) Salary: $65,000$70,000/year Schedule: MondayFriday | 9:00 AM5:00 PM Hire Type: Direct Hire

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join a well-established professional organization. This role is ideal for someone who is confident managing day-to-day accounting functions but also enjoys finding ways to make processes better.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Complete journal entries and maintain the general ledger
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis
• Prepare and interpret financial reports
• Support audits and regulatory reporting
• Assist with payroll-related accounting as needed
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, SOPs, and internal systems

What We're Looking For

- 3+ years of accounting experience - QuickBooks Desktop proficiency required - Strong Microsoft Excel skills - Knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting - Experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliations - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - A track record of improving processes or creating efficiencies

Experience in nonprofit, corporate, public, or governmental accounting is a plus.
