Manager, Power Plant Operations

The role is to manage OUC’s Stanton Energy Center (SEC) EWP Operations Unit, ensuring safe and reliable plant operations while supporting environmental compliance and economical generation. The ideal candidate will have: Responsibilities Ensure coal-fired generating units meet generation and environmental compliance while following SEC Operations policies and guidelines. Manage OUC’s EWP Operations unit for SEC’s Fossil Fuel Units 1 and 2. Develop and maintain O&M budgets and capital budgets for Operations; generate and analyze billing statements, budget reports, and spreadsheets as needed. Oversee and support SEC’s Emergency Response Team (ERT); provide expertise on plant safety guidelines and requirements. Monitor the availability of plant operating equipment and coordinate equipment schedules. Provide management with accurate update reports regarding plant processes and system issues, improvements, root cause analysis, recommended solutions, and preventative maintenance changes. Manage SEC Operations personnel: schedule daily activity, maintain time sheets, coordinate outages, develop employee development programs, perform performance appraisals, and assist with hires and promotions. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university (required). MBA preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in power generation operations/maintenance, including three (3) years of formal supervisory/management experience or leading projects/teams. Salary Range: $144,900.00 - $217,350.00 annually - commensurate with experience. Starting salaries typically fall within the first half of the range. Develop and maintain O&M budgets and capital budgets. Technical Requirements Working knowledge of industry standards (ASME, NEMA, IEE, NFPA, FDEP, etc.). NERC plant safety permits and applications. Operations and maintenance manuals; software applications (e.g., JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, CMMS, Nisoft, AutoCAD, LOTO). Policies, practices, and procedures; legal guidelines and regulations. Power plant processes; safety permits and applications; reporting (budgeting, analysis, CEMS, process control). Capital and O&M project budgeting, cash flow, and economic analysis. Mechanical and electrical systems knowledge; environmental control systems. Effective written and verbal communication; negotiation skills. Demonstrated leadership abilities; adaptability in a changing environment. Financial analysis and justification (NPV, ROI); understanding control diagrams and process reports. Ability to: work overtime as needed; perform arithmetic computations; use Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment. Education/Certification/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (required); MBA preferred; minimum five (5) years in power generation operations/maintenance, including three (3) years in supervisory/management roles or leading projects; valid driver’s license; special training within six months of hire: Budget Reports and Analysis. Working Conditions This role may involve exposure to dust, heat, fumes, noise, wetness, and other disagreeable conditions, occasional work in confined spaces, near moving parts, at heights, and outdoors in extreme conditions. May involve exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. May require heavy lifting up to 40 lbs and other physical activities. Physical Requirements This role requires typing, reading, writing, driving a company vehicle, standing, walking, sitting, bending, climbing, lifting up to 20 lbs (and up to 40 lbs for certain tasks), and other repetitive motions.
