Maintenance Mechanic

Basic Purpose Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of warehouse‑related equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, highlifts, forklifts, batteries, etc.). This ensures day and night warehouse operations remain functional for efficient shipping and receiving of product. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to warehouse machinery to ensure adequate machines for day and night operations. Review equipment reports submitted by warehouse associates, record actions/repairs taken, and maintain a repair log per USF policy. Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) on equipment and maintain PM logs with proper documentation, per USF policy. Comply with all USF and governmental safety guidelines (Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding, required documentation, etc.). Maintain and secure the battery‑charging area, batteries, and other equipment. Manage company tools and maintenance equipment—inventory, safe operation, proper storage, and security of the tool area. Purchase tools and other equipment from local vendors when authorized. Perform light maintenance duties as assigned (e.g., replacement of light bulbs, painting, storage rack repairs, light plumbing, equipment repairs, basic drywall and concrete repairs). Relationships Internal: Warehouse personnel and supervisory staff, Operations support, Maintenance and Sanitation personnel External: Outside vendors Qualifications Education/Training: High school education or equivalent preferred; additional mechanic training or trade school degree preferred. Related Experience: Minimum of six months previous mechanic experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of equipment repair and operation; able to repair and overhaul warehouse equipment; welding ability; able to read and write legibly; able to follow orders; basic mathematical skills; able to work with little direct supervision. The expected base rate for this role is between $33.00 and $34.00 per hour. This role may also receive overtime compensation.
