Behavioral Health Assistant

Specialty: BehavioralHealth Assistant Location: Columbia, SC Schedule: 7:00am-7:00pm, Will be scheduled for 3 days/week & every other weekend Job Description Demonstrates knowledge of the Nursing Care Plan (NCP) and Treatment Plan as it relates to providing nursing care. Participates in quality control monitoring and peer review as assigned. Provides care to patients with mental illness, substance abuse, aggressive behavior, and/or suicidal tendencies. Demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic communication skills, considering age‑specific competencies and culturally diverse patients. Identifies the need for and performs basic care/activities of daily living for patients. Assists in care for patients with physical problems and provides basic care for patients requiring special precautions, seclusion, 4‑point restraints, supportive protective restraints, following policy on meeting patients’ special needs for hygiene, nutrition, toileting, fluids, and ADLs. Qualifications Open‑Competitive: High school or equivalent diploma. Successful completion of a one‑year trainee program for Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Behavioral/Mental Health Technician or similar background.
