Painter Module C

Overview Capitalizing on over 140 years of history and tradition in downtown Los Angeles, the University of Southern California (USC) has embarked on an unprecedented period of expansion. USC is now poised to take its place as the preeminent research institution of the 21st century. The Department of Facilities Planning and Management (FPM), Zones Maintenance seeks a Painter Module C. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and guidance to journeymen and Zone Maintenance Technicians. Perform standard painting procedures, paint, furniture refinishing, and decorating tasks. Work from blueprints, specifications, and plans. Perform plaster repair and related repair tasks. Finish drywall (taping). Estimate materials required for specific job components. Match colors. Maintain a clean job site and ensure safe working conditions; store and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment. Train other journeymen, zone maintenance technicians, or other employees as required. Identify training needs and define new or continuing training that would benefit staff. Prepare reports and/or maintenance records as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time. Schedule Monday to Friday 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM; however, work schedules may change at any time to accommodate business needs. Preferred Qualifications 4‑year Apprenticeship Program completion. Related undergraduate study. 5 years as a journeyman. Minimum Qualifications High school or equivalent. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education. Experience performing standard trade‑related procedures; general knowledge of trade‑related methods, materials, tools, and equipment. Experience matching colors. Familiar with other trades, city and state building codes, OSHA rules and regulations, standard safety practices and equipment, painting and gas codes. Valid California driver’s license.
