A healthcare facility located in Astoria, NY is seeking a licensed pharmacist for an 11-week contract opportunity. This role requires expertise in retail pharmacy operations, sterile compounding, and intravenous (IV) admixture preparation, functioning in a closed-door environment.

Schedule:

• Sunday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 1:00 PM – 11:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications following legal and safety protocols.
• Monitor patients’ medication compliance and identify over-usage patterns.
• Ensure an adequate and legal supply of medicines, verifying prescriptions for suitability.
• Maintain confidential and precise records of patients and pharmacy documentation.
• Provide expert consultation on prescription and over-the-counter medications regarding storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
• Compound medications for both internal and external use, including sterile solutions per established procedures.
• Supervise pharmacy staff such as technicians and clerks, ensuring workflow efficiency and adherence to regulations.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to identify and resolve drug-related problems.

Qualifications:

• Valid New York State Pharmacy License required.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a pharmacist.
• Preferred experience with intravenous (IV) compounding and sterile admixture preparation.

This opportunity includes working in a professional, closed-door pharmacy setting, with a schedule that provides a balanced mix of weekend and evening shifts. Agreements will be signed to formalize the contract.
